Gone are the day of Paris, Britney, and Lindsay being role models to young girls and entertainers that carry weight in Hollywood. US Weekly has compiled a new list of powerful girls in Hollywood and none of the aforementioned were on it. The article starts with: "As young Hollywood continues to tread on a downward spiral — both actors Heath Ledger and Brad Renfro died tragically within the same week — a new generation of power girls are pledging not to wind up with the same sad fate." Disney stars dominate the list with
Hannah Montana star
Miley Cyrus sitting right at the top, earning $3.5 million last year.
Since Miley burst onto the Hollywood scene with
Hannah Montana two years ago, she has been praised consistently for being a good role model. She credits her family for raising her right. “The most important thing is really staying true to yourself,” she told the magazine. “That’s what my mom taught me. She’s the most beautiful girl, not only on the outside but on the inside. She’s teaching me how to be a good person.”
High School Musical stars
Ashley Tisdale and
Vanessa Hudgens also made the list. “I don’t drink, and I don’t smoke," Tisdale proclaimed. "It’s a personal preference. My mom has never drunk or smoked. I look up to my mom.” Hudgens has proved herself to be a bankable star, pulling in over $2 million last year. She told US Magazine that it was time for a new generation of stars, one she's happy to be part of.
The Cheetah Girls sold 2 million copies of their debut album with their tour bringing the group more than $26 million. Former member and Disney television star
Raven-Symone made her way onto the list all by herself. Her show
That's So Raven has brought The Disney Channel hundreds of millions of dollars. Musical artists Rihanna and Taylor Swift, former Nickelodeon star turned movie actress Amanda Bynes, Oscar nominated actress Ellen Page, and
Gossip Girl star Blake Lively are also featured in the current issue.
