Disney's
Hannah Montana usually brings a smile to the faces of its young viewers, but as tickets for the show's nationwide concert begin to dwindle, many are left frustrated and angry.
Since the supply no longer equals the demand, more and more fans, along with their parents, have expressed disappointment over the difficulty of acquiring tickets to the highly-anticipated concert, which will feature series star
Miley Cyrus performing as herself and as her famous alter ego. In Minnesota, for example, parents of young
Hannah Montana fans spent hours trying to purchase tickets, to no avail.
"We had some tears walking away," Jodi Jung said. Jung went to Target Center, where the concert will be held on October 21, with her six-year-old daughter, hoping to get tickets directly from the venue.
Jung's sister-in-law, Krishia Friede, tried to get tickets through the internet and phone, enlisting the help of her eight-year-old daughter and two relatives. All four of them were unable to get tickets.
"I got right through at 12:01 and clicked on four seats," Friede said. "None available."
They grew more upset when they discovered all kinds of tickets for sale on eBay and ticket broker websites, with some going for more than ten times the original value. Ticket prices listed by eBay and some broker sites range from $399 to more than $4000.
The same problem is being experienced in Oklahoma City, where the concert is scheduled to take place on December 2. Brokers with oklahomatickets.com said they have been working at a minimal profit, since the price the company paid for the tickets did not leave much room for any substantial mark-up.
Twin Town Tickets owner John Connelly said that fans will now have to compete with brokers from all over the country, considering
Hannah Montana has proven to be such a big hit.
"When the thing goes on sale, they're [brokers] all online," Connoly said.
