Filming for
Hannah Montana: The Movie is in full swing, and fans can expect a lot of cameos from country music’s top stars. Already, Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift have been confirmed as guest stars in the movie. "I'm making a cameo so I'm so excited about that,” Swift told People magazine recently. “I'm playing one of my own songs and [am] just in the background of one of the scenes."
Billy Ray Cyrus insisted on adding another character to the movie, the great state of Tennesse, where he and his family are from. In an interview with OK! Magazine, Cyrus opened up about how he convinced Disney to film in his home state.
“When I read the initial script, it was all about me bringing Miley home to Tennessee, and we were going to go film it in Louisiana,” Cyrus told the magazine. “To me, that was a red flag.” Rather than just accept Disney’s decision, Miley’s father took matters into his own hands. “I called a few different people, and I said, ‘Wait a second, I really feel that Tennessee is the right place to make a movie about coming back to Tennessee,’” he said.
Cyrus did have to do a lot of convincing to get his way. He even sent pictures of his home to the people at Disney. After seeing the locations Cyrus was thinking of, they came around. “Disney came here last week, and they pulled me aside and said, ‘Thank you for bringing this film to Tennessee,’” Billy Ray said. He did say that, despite his hard work, he doesn’t want to take credit for moving the location of the shoot. “The bottom line is Tennessee sold itself. I brought it to the table and said, ‘I think it’s the right thing to do.’ It’s a great state. I’m really proud of it.”
Hannah Montana: The Movie will be released in the spring of 2009.
