Talk about the best of both worlds. Miley Cyrus has conquered television with her Disney series Hannah Montana, has dominated the music circuit with her Best of Both Worlds Concert tour, and now, has set a new record in the box office.

The 3-D concert movie, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, grossed a whopping $29 million, the biggest tally ever for a Super Bowl weekend.  Although ticket prices were as high as $15, at least 50 percent higher than most regular movie tickets this year, it still became the number one movie of the weekend, more than doubling the receipts of the number one movie, The Eye, which stars Jessica Alba.  Opening in only 642 theaters, it set a record of over $42,000 sales per theater.  It also set a record for the highest revenue for a 3-D movie for one weekend.

Aside from beating the horror flick The Eye, the Hannah Montana 3-D concert movie also prevailed against 27 Dresses, Juno, and last week's number one, Meet The Spartans.

The Hannah Montana 3-D concert movie, which reflects the dual nature of the series' character, was intended for a one-week limited release, starting February 1 to February 7 in the United States and Canada.  But in response to the overwhelming demand of the movie, Disney is now extending the length of the film's theatrical run.

"We don't want to turn away kids from the theaters who couldn't get into the concerts," Chuck Viane, Disney's distribution chief, said in a statement.  "If it's still going strong for two weeks in Vegas, it'll stay for two weeks.  If it's going for a month, we'll keep it there a month."

“The extra playing time will give more fans a chance to see their favorite performer in an exciting new way that brings the concert experience to life on the big screen.  It will also accommodate those fans who want to come and enjoy the experience again.  Miley is clearly one of today's most exciting, talented and charismatic performers, and we're delighted that her fans are having such a great time with this entertaining and innovative 3-D adventure," Mark Zoradi, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group added.

Meanwhile, fans can also catch Miley Cyrus on the TV series Hannah Montana every night at 7/6c on the Disney channel.
