Glee isn't the only show that can do awesome covers.
Grey's Anatomy
is getting into the business this week with a very special musical
episode that finds Callie literally singing for her life as the doctors
of Seattle Grace rush to save her life (and her baby's life) after a
horrific car crash.
The episode sees Callie (Tony winner Sara Ramirez) having an out-of-body experience, allowing the show to use musical elements in the otherwise serious drama. The episode will feature many songs previously featured as background music on the show (
click HERE for the full set list).
For now, you can enjoy Sara Ramirez's take on Brandi Carlile's "The Story" and a performance of Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" featuring Ramirez, Kevin McKidd and Chandra Wilson.
If you're wondering why Sara Ramirez is so damn awesome, it's because she is. Ramirez won a Tony for her role as the Lady of the Lake in
Spamalot, an impressive feat since the show is almost entirely male. As an added bonus, check out Ramirez's performance of the
Spamalot song "Find Your Grail" from the Tony Awards. It'll make you wish Callie got into a car crash in every episode of
Grey's Anatomy.
The
Grey's Anatomy music event airs Thursday at 9pm on ABC.
