's leading ladies have been busy this fall, covering fashion and beauty magazines and chatting about their television, music AND movie careers.
Check out the always gorgeous Leighton Meester, Blake Lively and Taylor Momsen in Glamour UK, Nylon, Marie Claire
magazines for November and December. It's hard to decide which I like more: the quotes or the photos!
Leighton for Glamour UK (click here for the full scans of the article):On her career:
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
"I'm proud of the work that I've done. I don't care what people label me as. If they want to say I'm an actress, and I should never sing, that's fine. If they know me for my music, because they don't watch my show or my movies, that's fine, too. I'm doing what I want with my life. I just do...me."Blake Lively for Nylon:Blake Lively for Marie Claire (click for full article and more photos):
"As a character, I get to be this wild, outgoing person that I'm so not.
I think it all comes from being the youngest of five. I was always
observing my siblings and hearing stories about their lives that turned
out to be helpful as an actress."On Gossip Girl fashion:
"Living in New York, I feel stronger and more like a woman than ever before. In high school, it was like, what power do I have - I have long blonde hair, you know? But working as hard as I do now, I feel a sense of power and respect, too.
I've learned an incredible amount about fashion on Gossip Girl
. For me, clothes are a personal expression, and my style is as ever-changing as I am: I'm at a point when I am growing, maturing, developing, I'm going through new things in my life, and with that, what I choose to wear changes."
On being a Southern girl at heart: "I grew up in L.A., but I was the
only one in my family born there. I have a tight-knit Southern family,
so whenever I tell people I'm from L.A., they say, 'Yeah but you don't
count.' I guess it's because of the Southern values I was raised with, and
the way I eat - the more sugary and cheesy and fried, the better."
Taylor Momsen for Fashion (click through for the whole article plus more photos):
On how she's like Jenny: "As an actor, you always find similarities to a character so you can
play them. Jenny's creative, a fashion designer-- she's
like me in that she's really, really driven.""Jenny is the most evolving character on the show," she says. "She's the youngest, so she's figuring stuff out."On Gossip Girl versus her music career:
"It's a great job and a passion, but there's a level of detachment because it's not me"--Momsen insists "music is my everything." To that end, she spends her nights in lingerie with ragged hair and raccoon eyes (much like her look for FASHION
cover shoot) flaunting a Hole-era Courtney Love vibe as frontwoman of
her punk-ish band, The Pretty Reckless. "I get up in the morning for
it, I live for it. It's me onstage, not Jenny Humphrey or Cindy Lou
Who."-Meghan Carlson, BuddyTV Staff Writer
