Blake Lively’s new television show Gossip Girl hasn’t been aired yet, however the 19-year old actress is already set to star in an upcoming film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.

Lively, a native of Tarzana, California, is an actress known for her role as Anabelle in the independent film Elvis and Anabelle and the comedy Accepted as Monica Moreland. Her other acting credits include Simons Says and Sandman.

Lively has participated in the 2005 film The Sisterhood of the Traveling as Bridget Vreeland, and will once again reprise her role in the sequel. Also returning in the movie are the original core ensemble, including Ugly Betty’s America Ferrera as Carmen Lowell, Joan of Arcadia’s Amber Tamblyn as Tabitha "Tibby" Tomko-Rollins, and Gilmore GirlsAlexis Bledel as Lena Kaligaris.

Written by Elizabeth Chandler, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 uses “Forever in Blue,” the fourth installment of the “Pants” novel series by Ann Brashares as its foundation. In addition, the sequel will also be tapping in some parts of the second and third books.

While the plot still centers on the girls being bonded by a pair of secondhand pants they take turns wearing, the movie will feature the girls now in college with character plots that take place in Turkey, Greece, New York, Vermont and Providence.

The movie, which already began on June 3, starts shooting in Greece, and then moving to New York and Connecticut. Released by Warner Bros. Pictures, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 is scheduled to hit the theaters on August 8, 2008.

Fans can also catch Blake Lively as the wealthy and popular Serena van der Woodsen on CW’s Gossip Girl every Wednesday at 9/8c starting on September 5.
