The Glee Christmas special is not for cynics. If, like me, you have a lump of coal where your heart should be, prepare to face an onslaught of Christmas cheer and do-goodery.

Check out two of the songs from the episode and see if you're heart grows three sizes or if you're dead inside like I am.

Glee is available on Amazon Prime.

In the first song, Mercedes and the newly reunited New Directions sing "All I Want for Christmas Is You" while decorating the rehearsal room with more tinsel than I've ever seen in my life. The song instantly makes me think of my favorite holiday movie of all-time, Love Actually, which makes me wish there was some adorably precocious drummer boy flirting with Mercedes in the background. Instead, we see her wrap tinsel around Sam. If she's sticking with Shane, this is a pretty big mixed signal for Sam, because it definitely makes it seem like she's open to getting back with her blond summer fling.

In the second song, New Directions sing "Do They Know It's Christmas?" to a bunch of homeless kids at a shelter while Sue Sylvester ladles soup. I know this is supposed to make my heart melt, but I'm the kind of guy who thinks Chicken Soup for the Soul is the funniest book ever, so it doesn't exactly make my heart grow three sizes to see everyone temporarily helping others before they inevitably go back to focusing entirely on their own problems. Christmastime is also when Sue decides to spend one day of the year being nice before turning back into her regular, mean-spirited self.

Glee's "Extraordinary Merry Christmas" airs Tuesday at 8pm on FOX.
