Edward Herrmann was born on July 21, 1943 in Washington, D.C. He attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor. Later, he appeared in countless television shows like Law & Order, The Practice, St. Elsewhere, and Mrs. Warren's Profession where he won a Tony award for his performance. At present, he is part of the series Gilmore Girls where he plays Richard Gilmore. Richard Gilmore is the father of Lorelai Gilmore and the grandfather of Rory Gilmore. He is also the husband of Emily Gilmore. He worked as the executive vice-president for the Gehrman-Driscoll Insurance Corporation. Later, he retires and starts his own business. Lorelai helps him set up his business and enjoys the time they spent together.
