Ghost Whisperer

Previously on Ghost Whisperer, while trying to figure out the meaning of a dream, Melinda found out some surprising news about her father: he's alive.  After successfully dealing with a very relentless spirit who's trying to hurt her father by possessing him and pushing him out of his own body, a concerned Melinda went to her father's hotel room only to find blood spills from beneath the door.

In the season three finale of Ghost Whisperer, Melinda finally discovers the truth about her family's past.  The 18th installment, “Pater Familias,” sheds light on why Melinda's father vanished all these years and why her mother kept the truth hidden.

After trying to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head, Melinda's father survives and is in the hospital.  Melinda uncovers the mystery about her family but she learns that it involves a series of bodily possessions.

Meanwhile, a ghost is taking over other people's bodies in attempt to talk to important people in his life.  Later, the ghost cautions Melinda that the spirits that haven't crossed over are getting more powerful and that she is getting weaker.

Ghost Whisperer stars Jennifer Love Hewitt as Melinda Gordon, Jay Mohr as Rick Payne, David Conrad as Jim Clancy, and Camryn Manheim as Delia Banks.

Appearing on tonight's season finale are Anne Archer, Martin Donovan, Ignacio Serricchio, and Corin Nemec, among others.

Archer, who reprises her role as Melinda's mother Beth Gordon, is known for role in the 1987 thriller Fatal Attraction where she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.  Donavan, who returns as Melinda's father Tom Gordon, is credited for his recent work on Weeds and The Dead Zone.  Recurring cast member Serricchio plays Melinda's brother Gabriel, while Nemec, who guest stars as Paul Eastman, is known for his roles on Stargate SG-1 and Beverly Hills 90210.
