Tyler Christopher was born on November 11, 1972 in Joliet, Illinois and grew up in Delaware, Ohio. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University for a couple of years before moving to Los Angeles to work at hard labor jobs. After a conversation with his cousin actor Derk Cheetwood, he decided to change career paths and go into acting. His first major acting job was his role as Prince Nikolas Cassadine on the soap opera, General Hospital. In 1997, Christopher was given the Best Newcomer Award from Soap Opera Digest magazine and two years later, he left the soap to pursue other acting opportunities. He later appeared in The Pretender and in 2002, he ventured into theater. A year later, he briefly returned to General Hospital, playing Connor Bishop who was really Nikolas Cassadine. He again was rewarded with daytime Emmy nominations and a nomination for a NAACP Image Award. 2005 saw Christopher playing Jacob Wheeler Jr. in Steven Spielberg's miniseries, Into the West. In 2007, he is again set to return to General Hospital.
Nikolas Cassadine is played by Tyler Christopher on the soap opera, General Hospital. Laura Webber was kidnapped by Stavros Cassadine while he was avenging his father's death. While he held her prisoner in his island in Greece, she agreed to be his wife to set her free. From this marriage spawned Nikolas, whom Laura kept a secret from her love of her life and later husband, Luke Spencer. She only confessed about Nikolas' existence when she gave birth to their baby girl, Lulu, who was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. To save her life, Nikolas donated bone marrow to his half-sister. Nikolas, who never knew about her but knew of Lucky, his other half-brother, had a bad relationship with him as Lucky despised him a lot.
