Ingo Rademacher, who is known to daytime fans as suave tycoon Jasper Jax Jacks on
General Hospital, is officially a father. The 37-year-old actor and fiancée Ehiku welcomed their first son into the world on July 11, according to
Soap Opera Digest.
"Dad, mom and baby are all great," a
General Hospital spokesperson said. "The cast and crew of
General Hospital are very excited for Ingo, Ehiku and the entire Rademacher family. We wish them all the best during this important milestone."
Ehiku gave birth at home where she was assisted by her husband and a mid-wife.
"We were set on home birth right away," Rademacher told
Soap Opera Digest. "A hospital was not a place we wanted to be."
The baby, who weighed in at 7 lbs, 6 oz. and was 20 and a half inches long, was named Peanut Kai Rademacher.
"We were calling him that when he was in mommy," the
General Hospital actor told
People about his baby's unusual name. "It kind of represented joy and happiness to us. It puts a smile on everyone's face."
While that explains the Peanut part of the baby's name, Rademacher explains that the Kai part means water in Hawaiian, given that the baby is one quarter Hawaiian on his mother's side.
Ingo Rademacher and Ehiku plan to marry in Hawaii next year.
Ingo Rademacher has portrayed the role of Jasper Jax Jacks on
General Hospital almost continuously since 1996. So far, he has consecutively won two
Soap Opera Digest Awards for Hottest Male Star in 1997 and 1998. During a one-year break, he appeared on the short-lived prime time soap opera
Titans as David O'Connor. His other television credits included
Paradise Beach, Echo Point, Clueless, Veronica's Closet, and
According to Jim, where he recurrently appeared as the character Ted.
