After the Red Wedding, there's plenty of room open in the Game of Thrones cast, and now the HBO drama was filled a key season 4 role. According to EW, Chilean actor Pedro Pascal has landed the role of Oberyn Martell, aka the Red Viper.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

If you haven't read the books (like me), but are still curious about who this Red Viper is, here's what you need to know. He's a prince from Dorne (I hear good things about their wine and women) whose sister was killed by Gregor Clegane during the Lannisters' rebellion against King Aerys. Oberyn is handsome, charming and out for revenge against the Lannisters, but who isn't at this point.

He's also the uncle to the young boy who Cersei's daughter, Myrcella, was betrothed to when they sent her away in season 2.

Pascal is currently on USA's new drama Graceland and previously had recurring roles on ABC's short-lived Red Widow and The Good Wife, where he played an AUSA.

Are you excited for yet another new character to join the Game of Thrones family? If you've read the books, is this how you imagined the Red Viper? And are you hoping he fails in his quest for revenge against the Lannisters because that's supposed to be Arya's job?

Find out when Game of Thrones season 4 arrives in spring 2014 on HBO.
