Turanga Leela is a single-eyed alien who grew up in an orphanage and went to high school on earth. She is somewhat of an outcast due to her unique physical appearance and to offset her lack of friends, she studied kickboxing and similar activities. She met Fry when she worked as a fate assignment officer but he instead got her to quit her job and she subsequently joined Fry on the crew of the Planet Express delivery service, where she eventually became ship’s captain.
