Nowadays, there are a bunch of reality shows that attempt to entertain viewers through some crazy backstage drama, catfights, and a slap of raunchy make-out sessions. From G's to Gents
, however, stands out from the rest, according to Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx, who also serves as producer to the MTV series.
"I think this is going to be fabulous," Jamie Foxx told ET
's Kevin Frazier. "Sometimes reality shows show how crazy it can get. This is going in reverse. This is going to help a lot of people. We are trying to make a show, make money, but when you see these guys go through the transformation and hear all these beautiful stories, you can't help but be affected by it."
From G's to Gents
, for those who are not familiar, features 14 gangsters who are willing to change their lives and become gentlemen. Throughout the show, they will be trained and taught in terms of style, etiquette, grammar and business. In the end, the winner will receive $100,000. The show premiered on July 15 and is hosted by Fonzworth Bentley
"A lot of these guys have never gone outside their borders," Jamie Foxx explained. "There were kids in Los Angeles who had never been to Venice Beach or on a plane before -- the things we take for granted because we do them all the time."
"A 'G' is the persona of not knowing and fronting. It is not racist," Jamie Foxx added. "'G's are anybody who is not getting the chance to show their gentlemanly side."
So far, two participants, Pretty Ricky
and The Truth
, have been eliminated on the show, leaving the competition with 12 guys still in the running. Find out who will be eliminated next. Catch From G's to Gents
tonight at 10pm on MTV.
