Born David Lawrence Schwimmer on November 2, 1966 in Astoria, Queens, David Schwimmer was raised in Los Angeles, California by his parents Arthur Schwimmer and Arlene Colman. He was educated in Beverly Hills High School and Northwestern University where he joined the Cherub program. He was also enrolled in the university as a theater major. He co-founded Chicago's Looking Glass Theatre Company. He became part of the dramatic mini-series
Band of Brothers but is best known for his role as Ross Geller in the series
Friends. He has also worked as a director, initially on some episodes of
Friends, and later, the 2007 comedy
Run, Fat Boy Run.
Ross Geller is played by David Schwimmer in the hit television series
Friends. Ross is the older brother of Monica, and was often favored by their parents, specifically their mother, over her. Both are very competitive and used to be violent with each other. Ross met Chandler Bing in college and formed a band with him and Carol Willick, who soon became his wife. They divorced shortly after their marriage. Ross pursued a career in paleontology and completed his PhD. He had a turbulent relationship with Rachel, causing him to file a divorce after they got married. There were many times that they broke up and got together but in the end Ross stopped Rachel from leaving to Paris to pursue her career, just because he realized how much he really loved her.
