Karen Cliche is a Canadian film and television actress born on July 22, 1976 in Sept-Iles, Quebec. The daughter of an army man, she moved around constantly as a child as her father was stationed in different locations, from Canada to Virginia to Germany. She took up acting classes in high school performed onstage in several productions, dreaming of becoming a professional actress. She also briefly took up psychology at Concordia University. She initially worked for modeling agencies such as Montage and MCM Talent, before pursuing her acting career. Her acting credits include Vampire High, Adventure Inc., Mutant X, and

Baylin is played by Karen Cliche in the Sci-Fi Channel's modern-day remake of the classic comic series Flash Gordon. While she was once Ming's best and most skilled bounty hunter, she joins Flash and Dale on Earth later on in order to battle against the evil of her former employer. She was cast out from her tribe, the Verden, when she was very young. She thus grew up self-sufficient and fiercely independent, adhering to her own personal code of honor. She is an expert with firearms and with combat techniques, and is as beautiful as she is deadly.
