has a few more twists in store for this season and one of the surprises involves Nip/Tuck
actress Roma Maffia, who is best known for her role as Liz Cruz.
Maffia has signed on to join the cast of the Showtime series in what might turn out to be a recurring capacity. Details about Maffia's role are being kept under wraps but Eonline.com
has managed to score a few clues as to how she'll stir the plot.Warning: This article contains spoilers!!!
"I just did a role that could be a recurring character on Dexter
," Maffia told Eonline.com. "It's Dexter plus one. I think it's a surprising turn."
Dexter Morgan plus one? That doesn't tell us anything about Maffia's role on Dexter but a show rep has confirmed that the plus one is wife Rita (Julie Benz) and that Maffia will serve as an advisor to the couple.
"Roma's role is a marriage counselor/couples therapist who's helping Dexter and Rita adjust to their new suburban family life," the show rep revealed.
With Dexter struggling with life in suburbia, not to mention being sleep-deprived, it looks like his marriage to Rita is in for a rough road. And since both the rep and Maffia have refused to comment on how many episodes the Nip/Tuck
actress will appear, it's likely that the whole "Dexter in therapy" plot may be an ongoing thing.
I'm not sure if Dexter seeing a shrink is a good idea but I'm curious to see how this will all play out. Perhaps this is another way for Dexter to vent out and unburden some of his angst. As for Rita and Dexter's relationship, I'm a little bit relieved to learn that their marriage is about to go downhill because quite frankly, the Morgan household is starting be mind-numbingly boring.
