Days of our Lives: March 11 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives: March 11 Live Thoughts
All of Bo's loved ones have been summoned to the hospital to say their possible last farewells to Bo on today's Days of our Lives.  John (Drake Hogestyn) whines to Marlena (Deidre Hall) about why he has to be there.  Steve (Stephen Nichols) sees the bodyguard he had on Kayla and asks what he's doing there.

Kayla and Lexie talk with Daniel about the experimental procedure that could save Bo's live.  It involves a living donor, and is extremely risky, for both the recipient and the donor, which is why he didn't bring it up in the first place.  Victor walks in and demands that they perform the procedure, since it might be Bo's only chance.

Max (Darin Brooks) runs into Caroline (Peggy McCay) at St. Luke's.  They say a rosary for Bo.

John is feeling squeamish in the hospital because of his incarceration there right after his resurrection.  He leaves to get some air.

Steve dresses down the guard for not keeping closer tabs on Kayla (Mary Beth Evans).  Stephanie sees this confrontation.  The thing is, the body guard is really conspicuous about hanging around Kayla.  If he were keeping any closer tabs, he would be in her lab coat pocket.  I'm surprised that Kayla hasn't called the cops on him.

Chelsea (Rachel Melvin), Shawn (Brandon Beemer) and Victor fire questions at Dr. Daniel Jonas about the experimental procedure.  Daniel deflects all of their questions, saying that the procedure is so risky that it might backfire.  Everyone, however, is acting all bratty and whiny about it.  I sort of understand why Victor is being so insistent.  He's old and may not understand new medical procedures.  But seriously, Chelsea and Shawn?  They don't have any kind of credentials that give them authority over anything, much less a highly dangerous transplant surgery.

Belle (Martha Madison) walks into Bo's room with Sierra, while the doctors take their discussion outside.  The doctors exposit that the procedure they are talking about is a partial transplant from a living donor.  How can they do that?  The pancreas doesn't regenerate itself like the liver does.  And it's not like people have two of them, like kidneys.  I guess Days of our Lives is allowed to play fast and loose with medical science.  Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) wants a moment alone with Bo and demands that he pull through this.  Bo is a little bit miffed that Philip would choose now to start acting like his half-brother, but they manage to have a fairly civil conversation.

Victor steps outside the hospital to find John smoking a hand-rolled Cuban cigar ("One of DiMera's finest).  John informs Victor that since he is now running all of Stefano's business holdings, the mutually beneficial agreement between the Kiriakis and DiMera empires will be no more.  John now wants to control all of the Salem ports, which would squeeze into Victor's shipping business.  Marlena comes out and scolds John for his behavior toward Victor, especially since his son might die.  She takes his cigar away from him, like an angry schoolmarm.

Lexie decides that since she is chief of medicine, she wants them to go through with the procedure, but Daniel is still not on board.  Kayla and Lexie are indignant that he would stand by and watch Bo die.  Now this is unacceptable.  Kayla and Lexie are both trained physicians and they are acting like civilians, glossing over the details and medical ethics.  Basically, even though they both know that the donor might die too, they don't care.  What gives?  Daniel finally agrees that if everyone agrees, and they can find a donor (most likely a blood relative), then he'll do the surgery.

Kayla tells Steve about the transplant procedure, and Steve says that even though he loves Bo like a brother, he doesn't want Kayla to volunteer her pancreas because she's pregnant.  Dr. Daniel brings Hope and the family out to explain the procedure.  He explains all the risks in great detail.  It's not guaranteed that Bo will survive even after the transplant, and the donor could very well die too.  John interrupts the meeting and gives his two cents.  He says that they should go for the procedure, but minces no words in expressing this.  Hopes gives the go ahead to start testing and leaves to tell Bo.

The waning moments of today's Days of our Lives includes a medical montage of microscopes (how's that for alliteration?).  I would have thought that there would be more pipetting, but I guess I don't know anything about blood testing.  Then, everyone goes to St. Luke's for some face time with the Almighty.

Next on Days of our Lives: Marlena tells John that his behavior is scaring her, Daniel worries that the procedure might kill Bo, Nick confronts Max again about trying to ruin his career.
