Days of our Lives: July 23 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives: July 23 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives begins with Ava moaning sensually while John (Drake Hogestyn) massages her feet.  She says that making love with him earlier was a magical experience and she'd like to repeat it.  EJ (James Scott) unceremoniously interrupts them with bad news.  He just came back from meeting with the assistant D.A. and doesn't think that Ava should be making any long-term plans.

Kate (Lauren Koslow) and Tony (Thaao Penghlis) celebrate the success of Kate's Hearth and Home line.  Roman (Josh Taylor) walks by and tells them that Paul Hollingsworth might have met with foul play.  Is it really wise to be telling Kate and Tony about an ongoing investigation?  These cops on Days of our Lives are the worst ever.

Down at the police station, Morgan hears from Abe that they found her father's jacket in the river.  She fears the worst, but Abe (James Reynolds) tries not to jump to any conclusions.  Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) tries to comfort Morgan, but she is inconsolable.  She recounts happy memories she has of him.

At the pub, Kate asks whether Roman thinks that Paul died, but Roman won't give up any details.  She is very upset, and Tony knows that she's hiding something.  Kate covers up her shock, and Tony remembers the time a while back when John asked Tony to spin some good PR for Paul Hollingsworth.  Tony wonders if John had anything to do with Paul's disappearance.  Kate calls Philip to tell him about Paul's jacket and leaves to go find him.  Tony wants to have a meeting with John to find out what's going on with Paul, so he misses a date with Anna at the pub.  Things are frosty-cold between Anna and Kate.  For some reason, Anna decides to sit down with Kate as she waits for Tony even though there are any number of other tables she can sit at.  Anna drives me nuts.  Anna shares the news that Carrie and Austin are going to try to start a family.  Anna and Kate finally start bonding over being mothers and grandmothers.

Hope (Kristian Alfonso) is suspicious that Bo (Peter Reckell) might be hiding something because he has a big emotional reaction when he hears that Paul's jacket was found.  He doesn't want Hope to be involved in the case so that he can work it on his own.  She doesn't like it, but he says that there is a very good reason why he's not telling her anything.  She doesn't trust him, though.

Bo goes down to the station and finds out that the police are dragging the river to look for Paul's body.  Bo confronts Philip and tells him he knows that he killed Paul.  Philip denies that he did more than threaten Paul and that he's no killer.  They talk about Victor's ruthlessness when it comes to protecting his family.

EJ tells Ava in private about his meeting with the D.A.  The D.A. is extremely confident that they'll succeed in putting Ava behind bars, and EJ thinks Ava doesn't have a good defense.  EJ says he's a good lawyer and Ava says that's why she hired him.  That's so not true, though!  She hired him because he was the first lawyer she met!  EJ tells her that one of her cousins whom she got to sabotaged the plane in Ireland is going to testify against her in exchange for immunity.  The Irish government also wants to try the case in ireland, which means that Interpol will be involved.  EJ says that the complexity of the case might be used for their advantage.  They have to avoid extradition at all cost, and they also have to make sure they have a favorable judge.  He thinks that she should start consider cutting a deal as quickly as possible, and he suggests that they both start talking to the powerful people they know.
