Days of our Lives: January 10 Recap
Days of our Lives: January 10 Recap
On today's Days of our Lives, Sami (Alison Sweeney) storms home, angry that Will won't take her calls.  They must have replaced today's script with one from last week because I do believe we've seen all of this before.  She tells EJ (James Scott) that she suspects that Will has given up on her.

At the police station, Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) finally agrees to see Kate (Lauren Koslow) and Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson).  Kate has some kind of dead animal around her neck.  Is that a scarf, or roadkill?  Philip tells his half-brother that his only option now is plead not guilty due to temporary insanity.

Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) are staking out the building owned by C.B. DiMera.  They're dressed up like homeless people loitering on the front steps, which is kind of hilarious.  They don't really do a good job of remaining inconspicuous, though.  The construction worker from yesterday's Days of our Lives comes by and Hope snaps a picture of him with her cell phone.

Marlena (Deidre Hall) is looking through old photographs of John.  Roman (Josh Taylor) comes over.  He is concerned about Marlena, and tells her that John would want her to move on.  Marlena tries to describe the strange feeling that she's having, that John is still out there somewhere.  She speculates that John might still be alive, just like all the countless times Stefano was supposed to be dead but ended up alive and kicking.  Roman promises to do his best to find John's killers and bring them to justice.

Roman leaves, and Marlena asks Nick (Blake Berris) over for a favor.  Now, what I was hoping for would be more of a Mrs. Robinson-type of favor, but unfortunately, she just wants him to test John's ashes to make sure that they are really his.  He agrees to take it to the university lab to test it.

Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) gives FrankenJohn (Drake Hogestyn) instructions to stay in the house.  John is anxious to get outside and wants to know the Salemites will recognize him, but Stefano tries to impress upon him the importance of remaining unseen.  John's face, by the way, is as blank as his memory.  Stefano is concerned that John is asking too many questions, but there isn't much that Rolf can do to fix that without rendering him completely impotent.  Might I suggest a dose of Metamucil?

At the police station, Philip says that all of the ballistics confirm that Lucas shot EJ, so their only course of action is to plead temporary insanity, and they want Sami to testify on his behalf that she drove him crazy.  Lucas nose-whistles that he won't go along with it because he wants to shoulder all of the responsibility and punishment.  Moreover, Sami isn't speaking to Lucas at the moment.

Sami is holding and cuddling Johnny, and EJ admires how great a mother she is.  But she doesn't think she's so good, especially because Will hates her.  EJ offers to talk to Will for her, but she doesn't want EJ anywhere near him.  He's done enough.

EJ finds movers paid by Stefano taking all of his furniture out his apartment.  Kate comes by to deliver a letter from Lucas to Sami.  Alone, Sami reads the letter, which is interestingly written in all caps.  In the letter, Lucas pleads with Sami to work with Philip because she's everyone's only hope.  The letter is enough to change her mind, so she goes to meet Philip and Lucas' lawyer.  Sami objects to the temporary insanity defense, and I really don't understand why.  I mean, wouldn't she do anything she can to get Lucas out of jail?  Sami realizes that the lawyer wants to make her the bad  guy, the one who drove Lucas to insanity.  Philip pleads with her to ignore her anger for right now to help Lucas out.  But she refuses.  To hell with you and to hell with Lucas, she yells.

Hang on a second, though.  Why do they need Sami to testify anyway?  I don't get it.  Sami doesn't have any credentials, so her testimony that she drove her husband crazy wouldn't prove anything, no matter how dramatic or interesting it might be.

EJ goes over to the DiMera mansion to bitch at Stefano about why he's taking away his furniture.  EJ deduces that he will get his sofa back if he gives up his son.  Stefano makes it clear: if EJ doesn't do what he's told, then Stefano will destroy everything and everyone that is dear to him.  EJ decides to blackmail his daddy dearest instead.  He demands all of his furniture and his stock portfolio and trust fund back, or else he's going to tell the Brady cops about the lab experiment downstairs.

At the stakeout, Crystal (Ashlee Holland) shows up, and Bo immediately whips out his badge to question her.  He demands that she show him some ID, but she doesn't have any.  He questions whether she has any involvement with John's hit-and-run and Brady's disappearance.  They take her into custody, but she won't talk.  Marlena and Roman show up, and Marlena begs to know whether John is still alive.

Next on Days of our Lives: Philip pleads again with Sami, Nick has Marlena's results but she's not going to like it, Stefano challenge EJ to leave.
