She is an American actress who was born on April 3, 1972 in Urbana, Illinois. Garth was raised on a 25-acre horse ranch in Arcola, Illinois with six older half-siblings, and took up modeling and dancing lessons as a teenager. One of her dreams was to attend college, and later operate her own dance studio. When she was 15 years old, she was further encouraged by a talent scout, who had witnessed her victory at a local talent competition.
Eventually moving to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, her breakout role was as female lead character Kelly Taylor on the primetime soap opera
Beverly Hills 90210 . Her character Kelly experienced a number of various crises, such as cocaine abuse, rape, amnesia, a miscarriage, and getting shot. Garth later co-starred with Amanda Bynes in the sitcom
What I Like About You . She was previously married to musician Daniel B. Clark, though they filed for divorce in 1996. She’s also a vegetarian and fluent in Italian. Garth’s own story titled “I Am Home” was featured in the inspirational book Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul.
