After the commercial break, the Samba Smackdown begins with Bruooke and Derek. Man, they are really good at everything. They have a lot of really difficult moves. Their part gives way to Lance and Lacey, and you know what? They really hold their own! They have a really cool trick near the end, but they are really good. Warren and Kym bring up the rear, and that's a good word for Kym's costume, which has like five boas sprouting from her behind. They are really good too! I'm so impressed with all three of the couples. No wonder they have all gotten to the finals. Wow, I'm speechless. What a fun routine all around! Len says that all three couples danced the samba better than when they danced it earlier in the competition. He commends Warren and Lance on adding more difficulty to their routines, but Brooke is still the one to beat. Carrie Ann says that Warren is the most improved in the competition.
And the scores. Brooke and Derek get 9 from Carrie Ann, 9 from Len and 10 from Bruno, for a 28 out of 30. Lance and Lacey get 9 from Carrie Ann, 8 from Len and 9 from Bruno, for a 26 out of 30. Finally, Warren and Kym get 9 from Carrie Ann, 7 from Len and 9 from Bruno, for a 25 out of 30.
Cool, now it's the freestyle round, which is what I've been waiting for for the past 10 weeks. Brooke is up first. Uh oh, Derek hurt his back rehearsing all those lifts, so they take their rehearsal into the pool. They immediately win points from me by dancing to "You're the One That I Want" from
Grease. Woah, there's a cool costume change in the middle. They're really good, but I hae to say that without the strict structure of specific ballroom styles, Brooke looks a biit sloppy. But Bruno says that it's one of the best freestyles he's ever seen, and loves the Kama Sutra-esque positions. Len agrees. The scores: triple 10s for a perfect 30! That means they have a 58 out of 60 for the evening.
