This is one of a series of brief articles meant to introduce the DWTS viewer to each of the season 13 celebrities. Until Dancing with the Stars begins and we get our TV introductions, this will have to do!
Why You Know HerShe's a soccer player. A really, really, really good soccer player. So, whether you've heard of Hope Solo or not essentially depends on how much you know about women's soccer.
Hope has been a prominent goalkeeper in US women's soccer for several years now, playing on the 2008 Olympic team that won gold over Brazil in Beijing. She also was a very prominent player in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, in which the US Women's Team lost to Japan in the finals during a penalty shootout. Hope Solo won Golden Glove, Bronze Ball and All-Star honors for her performance during the World Cup tournament.
Hope Solo is currently signed to the professional soccer club, magicJack, based out of Boca Raton, Florida.
Why She's on Dancing with the StarsThe producers like having prominent athletes on the show, making Hope Solo an attractive prospect for them. Hope is most likely looking at this as a fun activity for the off-season.
Dancing/Performance ExperienceShe doesn't seem to have much dance or performance in her background. Still, a good-looking athlete doesn't always need that to do well on
Dancing with the Stars.
DWTS PotentialIf Hope can charm audiences, she might have a shot at the Mirror Ball. Athletes have historically done well, and Hope is partnered with Maksim Chmerkovskiy this season, a pro long denied a
DWTS win.
