After appearing on Access Hollywood for 13 years, co-anchor Nancy O'Dell is bidding farewell to the entertainment program this week. O'Dell is reportedly leaving the show for a new project though the details of her upcoming gig are still undisclosed. One thing's for sure though. She plans to linger on in the field of entertainment journalism.
"Having been at Access Hollywood from day one of the show, this has been an incredibly tough decision for O'Dell," O'Dell's publicist, Annie Jeeves, said in a statement issued on O'Dell's behalf. "She will miss her
Access Hollywood family, but looks forward to still seeing them all on the red carpet."
"O'Dell appreciates NBC's cooperation as she begins this next chapter in her career," Jeeves added. "This decision is based solely on Nancy's desire to take her career to the next level and is completely amicable."
Aside from
Access Hollywood, Nancy O'Dell has served as a contributor for NBC's
Today Show and
Dateline NBC, and has made guest appearances on
WWE Raw, Hannah Montana, and
Days of Our Lives. O'Dell, who will return to NBC to host the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day, was also set to participate in the eighth season of
Dancing with the Stars and was to be paired with professional dancer Tony Dovolani. Unfortunately, she had to withdraw from the competition before the season even started due to a knee injury sustained during training. While O'Dell nderwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in her knee, she was replaced by Melissa Rycroft, a contestant on
The Bachelor season 13, who finished third place on
Dancing with the Stars.
