Talk about a weird week of Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars... There will be no Results Show on Tuesday. But there will be more dancing? OK... Did they just want everyone to feel good about themselves? Is a Presidential debate so much of a drain on the DWTS audience?
No clue.
But here are some things I do have a clue about in the Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars week 5 preview.
The Dances
This week, everyone is doing a "guilty pleasure" dance in addition to a team freestyle dance. It should make for some truly interesting song choices anyway. Which styles will we see?
- Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: Quickstep
- Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff: Samba
- Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel: Waltz
- Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke: Samba
- Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani: Tango
- Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy: Samba
- Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd: Rumba
- Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough: Rumba
The Standings Going into Week 5
This is a very close race. I guess that's what you get when there are All-Stars involved. They're supposed to be good. But who was the best last week?
1. (tie) Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough: 39.5 points (out of 40)
1. (tie) Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd: 39.5 points
3. Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy: 37.5 points
4. Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani: 37 points
5. Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke: 36 points
6. Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel: 35.5 points
7. Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff: 34.5 points
8. Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 30 points
Who Is Winning Overall?
Now that we're roughly halfway through the Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars competition, it's also good to check in and see how each celebrity/pro pair is doing. Their average scores give some indication of that:
1. Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd: 26.1 average
2. Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough: 25.8
3. Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel: 25.3
4. (tie) Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke: 24.8
4. (tie) Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani: 24.8
6. Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy: 24.6
7. Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff: 24.5
8. Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 21.6
But this is only from four weeks of dancing. Another week should make a big difference.
Will two nights of dancing work for Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars? Should we be concerned? How will having two weeks' worth of scores affect the week 6 eliminations? Leave your comments below!
