'Dance Moms: Miami' Recap: The Circus Gets a Little Twisted
'Dance Moms: Miami' Recap: The Circus Gets a Little Twisted
The Stars are getting dark and creepy this week for their "Twisted Circus" theme performance at the Starbound competition in Fort Meyers. Now, when I hear circus I think of evil clowns, but thank goodness Victor shares my fear and chooses not to include them among his cast of circus folk. With Hannah as a fortune teller, Lucas as a mime, Sammy as a contortionist, Kimmy as a circus guest and Jessi as the ring leader, it's one twisted combination that can't go wrong.

There's No Crying in Dance

After last week's string of first place wins, I wasn't sure how Victor and Angel could choose who to put on top but it turns out that crying gets you nowhere no matter how well you performed. Lucas comes out on top followed by his duet partner Kimmy because they nabbed the highest score overall. Jessi is placed third on the list, followed by Sammy, and finally Hannah. It turns out that even though it was one of her best performances to date, she secured a last place spot on the list because of her emotional meltdown before her routine. It's unfortunate that she is punished for being nervous, but she takes it well and takes it as a future lesson.

An Unlikely Trio

You might have thought Victor and Angel dropped a bomb in the dance room based on Susan's behavior when they announce the trio of Jessi, Hannah and Sammy. Once again, Susan irrationally flips out and starts complaining that Hannah doesn't "deserve" to dance alongside such a seasoned veteran as Jessi. It is absolutely ridiculous that a grown woman is acting this way while her daughter stands by horrified.

Although these three girls may indeed have different techniques, it doesn't make one better than the other. Without a doubt, Susan sabotages Jessi and her position on the team, and I wouldn't be surprised if she got the two of them kicked out. Not to mention, I don't know why everyone is against working with Hannah. She's a beautiful performer and has more personality than most of the team members. Every week that a mom complains about her, she proves them wrong and ends up dancing better than ever. She's one strong little girl to put up with the mom's constant negativity and deserves to dance alongside any of the other girls.

A Star Gets Bullied

Lucas gets a little special attention from a senior dancer this week when rehearsing his solo and reveals that he has been getting bullied by some other boys in school. He confides in Victor and tells him that because he dances, other boys have been making fun of him and calling him gay. It's absolutely unacceptable for any nine year old boy to be picked on like this and to be labeled as something simply because he likes to dance. Lucas is an unbelievable performer and those kids will seriously regret their behaviors one day when they realize how truly amazing he is.

Gold Stars

Victor and Angel's "Twisted Circus" is a hit and earns them first place despite the mishap between Sammy and Kimmy. Lucas performs beautifully and takes the top spot in the solo division, and Kimmy lands in fifth. But the best part of the night? Susan has to eat her words because the trio gets second place overall. Looks like Hannah and Sammy didn't bring Jessi down as much as she thought they would. Of course this wouldn't be a proper Dance Moms Miami without a fight to cap off the evening, so it will be interesting to see what happens after Sammy and Abby stormed out after the big fight in the dressing room.

What do you think of tonight's episode? Will Sammy quit after the blowout? Who do you think will be on the top of the list next week? Leave your comments and come back to BuddyTV next week for your Dance Moms: Miami commentary!
