Fans of director Paul Haggis have been eagerly waiting for his latest project ever since rumors began swirling that his critically acclaimed film
Crash will be made into a 13-episode series. And as the Haggis' latest feature heads to the small screen, more and more details are gradually hitting the surface.
Crash, for those who are not familiar, is about the racial and social tensions in Los Angeles, inspired by Haggis' real life experience in which his Porsche was carjacked outside a video store on Wilshire Boulevard in 1991. The movie was internationally released in 2005 and won three Oscars for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Editing of 2005 at the 78th Academy Awards. It featured Brendan Fraser, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Esposito, Matt Dillon, and Keith David, just to name a few.
Unlike the movie, the TV series
Crash will feature a different cast of characters. One of which is Detective Adrian Cooper, whose unorthodox methods cause havoc when he investigates a police-involved shooting. According to
The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Sizemore has signed on to play the said role.
Sizemore will be joining an ensemble cast that includes Dennis Hopper (
24, Easy Rider, Blue Velvet) and D.B. Sweeney (
House, Jericho, Life As We Know It). The Golden Globe-nominated actor who has long been struggling with drug addiction is most noted for his roles in movies like
Bringing out the Dead, Saving Private Ryan, HBO's Witness Protection, Red Planet, Pearl Harbor, Devil in a Blue Dress, and
Black Hawk Down. His most recent appearance on the small screen was when he guest starred on
CSI: Miami as Kurt Rossi.
In addition to
Crash, Sizemore is also slated to appear in a string of films such as C
orrado, Shadows in Paradise, Double Duty and
Super Capers.
Meanwhile, fans can catch the premiere of Crash in 2009.
