Courteney Cox is taking a break from playing Jules Cobb, a recently divorced single mother exploring the truths about dating and aging on ABC's Cougar Town, to attend to a personal matter. According to Usmagazine.com, an ABC rep already released a statement on Sunday, November 22, confirming that the production of "Cougar Town has been temporarily shut down in order for Courteney to deal with a private family matter."

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

As of this moment, there is no word yet on what kind of family affair Cox is dealing with but fans of Cougar Town need not worry for now because Cox's absence won't affect the show immediately. Evidently, Cox has filmed enough episodes to keep the ball rolling so fans can enjoy the ABC sitcom until early next year. So far, three episodes have been completed and are scheduled to air on November 25, December 9 and January 6, 2010.

Among these three installments, many are looking forward to the January episode the most since it will feature Cox's former Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow, who will be portraying a rude dermatologist that Cox's character keeps going to.

Cougar Town, which has been picked up for a full 22-episode order, also features Dawson's Creek alum Busy Philipps, Scrubs regular Christa Miller and Drew Carey's Ian Gomez. It's still unknown whether the network will anticipate Cox's absence with contingency plan of shooting without her.

Cox is currently married to actor David Arquette. They have one daughter, Coco, 5.
