Castle may be off for a winter hiatus, but it won't be long until its back and we've got a whole new batch of spoilers about what the rest of Season 6 will bring.
Castle's Father Returns
Good news, fans of Castle's mysterious CIA father - he will be back. TVLine
reports that James Brolin will be returning to reprise his role as Jackson Hunt in an upcoming episode.
Castle creator Andrew W. Marlowe told TVLine that things will get complicated when Rick and his dad are "flung together once again" and that, during the reunion, "Castle begins to wonder whether he can trust this mysterious stranger."
As for Brolin, he told AntennaFree TV
that there may be a darker reason for Jackson's return. "[T]here's no reason for me to do another episodic show," Brolin said. "Unless I can show you the complete other side of this character, the one you might be afraid of. Rather than you finding out he's a good guy, you find out he's good in front, but..."
Sounds ominous, doesn't it?
Castle and Beckett Take On the Fashion World
Looks like Beckett is going to get a blast from her own past in another upcoming episode.
TV Guide reports that Titanic star Frances Fisher has been cast in a guest role for a Devil Wears Prada-themed episode that will force Beckett to revisit her past as a model.
"The episode has a little Devil Wears Prada feel to it with an Anna Wintour type character," Marlowe told TVGuide
. "In investigating the case, we discover that the Anna Wintour character, Matilda King, who runs this magazine, Modern Fashion, crossed paths with Beckett when she briefly flirted with a career as a model."
Marlowe said he chose Fisher for the role because "she brings a regality to everything she does."
Fans can look for the fashion-themed episode to air on Jan. 27.
Will 3 XK Get a New Face?
Before playing mommy and daddy in the episode that ended the winter season, Beckett and Castle found themselves facing echoes of an old foe. Could 3XK be back with a new face? TVLine
talked to Marlowe about the bad guy's possible return.
"It is certainly possible that Tyson, if alive, may have altered his appearance," Marlowe said. "Then again, Castle shot Tyson multiple times in the chest. He fell 100 feet into the water. How could he have possibly survived that?"
What Was Up with Beckett and That Song?
Many viewers noticed that Beckett had an unusually strong reaction to hearing the tune "We'll Meet Again" at the end of the episode. What was it about the song that made Beckett react the way she did? Marlowe's answer sheds some light (but not a lot).
"It could be that Beckett is just reacting to the disturbing and terrifying possibility that Tyson or Niemann will be back to toy with her and the people she loves," Marlowe teased. "Or maybe, just maybe, Beckett has a personal history with that particular song that makes her think that it was more than just a general threat. That maybe someone out there knows more about her past than she realizes."
Looks like there's plenty of interesting stories to come next year on Castle. Which storyline are you most excited to see when the show returns from winter hiatus?
