Of course Castle wasn't going to let us bask in the glory of a Castle-Beckett relationship just yet. That would be far too easy. Instead, we can likely look forward to a season of missed connections, confused feelings and just-friends insistences. The producers of Castle are helping this along by bringing in a potential love interest for Rick Castle. And we're one step closer to meeting this vixen -- actress Kristin Lehman has been cast in the possibly-recurring part.

As reported earlier, Castle was looking for a woman to play a love interest for the show's titular star. The character was described as a "gorgeous, sexy, sophisticated" woman with "a surprising past," who worked as an insurance investigator. TVGuide.com reports that the character will be named Martina Kaye. She will first meet the detectives during a murder investigation that includes the theft of a valuable sculpture. Assuming that sparks do indeed fly between this mystery lady and Rick Castle, we can expect more than one appearance.

Kristin Lehman (whose casting was reported by TVLine) was most recently seen in The Killing. She played Gwen Eaton, Councilman Darren Richmond's colleague and strategist.

Lehman has worked previously with Castle star Nathan Fillion, on the short-lived (but still kind of awesome) show, Drive. In the few Drive episodes seen before its rapid cancellation, Lehman played Corinna Wiles, a mysterious woman who teamed up with Fillion's Alex Tully to try to win a cross-country car race.

They would have been love interests -- assuming the show lasted more than a few episodes -- in Drive too. So that works.

There is no word yet as to when we can expect Lehman to show up as the Castle-stealing insurance lady. Considering the timing of her casting, she will probably appear sometime later in the fall. What will happen between Castle and Beckett in the meantime, paving the way for an interloper? We'll find out when Castle returns on September 19.

Do Castle and Beckett even have a chance of getting together? Would you like to see Castle dating someone else? Did you ever see Drive? That was a cool show.
