While we know little about the fallout coming from Castle's season 3 finale, we do know that there is some important casting underway on the show. A key recurring character, directly connected to the Beckett shooting, has been cast: Michael Dorn will appear on season 4 of Castle.
For those viewers who like to think that Kate Beckett's survival or
demise on
Castle counts as a spoiler, you probably shouldn't read any
further. Actually you probably shouldn't have even read the headline, so
the damage is done. Sorry.

As for everyone else who isn't even remotely fooled by the possibility that
Castle might kill off its female lead,
TVGuide.com reports that Michael Dorn will be playing the recurring role of Beckett's psychiatrist.
Dorn is best known for playing the Klingon Lieutenant Commander Worf on
Star Trek: The Next Generation. Considering the amount of prosthetic makeup Michael Dorn wore to play that part, fans might not immediately recognize the actor's face, even if his voice is distinctly familiar.
It shouldn't be much of a shock that Beckett is visiting a psychiatrist in the upcoming season. In addition to the probable police mandate that she get checked out before returning to service, Kate Beckett might be a little distraught these days. Her trusted mentor and boss turned out to be a traitor. Beckett let her obsession with the murder of her mother get out of hand. She became an active target for the first time. Oh, and there's that whole issue of Castle declaring his love for her.
That's got to mess with Beckett's head a little.
In addition to getting a shrink to talk to, Beckett might have a chance at non-professional friendship this season.
TVGuide.com quotes actress Stana Katic as saying that the show has "talked about potentially bringing in a friend or some kind of intimate character that can open up the other sides of her too."
