Anthony Head was born on February 20, 1954 in Camden Town, London to her family who were deeply involved in the entertainment arena. His father was the founder of Verity Films, his mother was an actress and his brother was an actor and singer. He was educated in London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and his first stage role was in Godspell. One of his first appearances in a series was in Enemy at the Door. In 1997, he was cast as Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Rupert Giles is played by Anthony Head on the hit television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In 1954, Rupert was born into an upper class family in London, England. His family had already worked within the Council of Watchers. When he moved to Sunnydale, he became a librarian at the local high school where he met Buffy, the Slayer. There he trains her and becomes a father figure to her. He also becomes advisor and friend to Buffy's friends, Xander Harris and Willow Rosenburg. Rupert appears to be a straight man with his stuffy Oxford sensibility. He is gifted with an immense knowledge of demonology and Slayer combat. He is experienced in dark magic, thus giving him good background for his role as Buffy's Watcher.
