'Boston Legal' Star Makes Noise in Time for the Fifth Season Premiere

Fans of Boston Legal must be reeling over the fact that their favorite show is heading back to the ABC airwaves for its fifth season tonight at 10pm.  Created by David E. Kelley, Boston Legal returns with James Spader, John Larroquette, Tara Summers, Candice Bergen and William Shatner as they continue on their courtroom battles.

Last week, we brought you some spoilers on what's to come in the new season, and before we tune in tonight at 10pm, let's take another peek into what's going to happen in the season premiere entitled “Smoke Signals.”

Tonight's episode will see Denny and Alan as they dress in their coast guard uniforms and go on board a yacht in which a wild party is in full swing.  As they make their way amongst half naked men and women in their late 20s, Alan flirts with the young woman in charge.  Later, Alan, Denny, Jerry and Bethany head to a courtroom battle against the tobacco industry to find that the lawyer for the opposition is one of Alan's former girlfriends.  Also, Denny will be experiencing some male hormonal trouble, thus forcing him to consult a doctor who tells him that he might have Alzheimer's.

In other news, some find it timely that William Shatner, who is also known for his three-year stint as Captain James T. Kirk on Star Trek, has recently denied a role in the new Star Trek film.  While rumors say that it was the production headed by director J.J. Abrams that excluded him from the project, some say that it was Shatner's desire for a bigger role that pushed him to deny the little stint they were offering him.

"It was very tricky.  We actually had written a scene with him in it that was a flashback kind of thing, but the truth is, it didn't quite feel right.  The bigger thing was that he was very vocal that he didn't want to do a cameo," Abrams told AMC.  "We tried desperately to put him in the movie, but he was making it very clear that he wanted the movie to focus on him significantly, which, frankly, he deserves."

It looks like the Boston Legal star sees this as a non-issue anyway, as he dismissed this and said that "There is no need for me to know anything because I'm not a part of [the film].”

Catch William Shatner and the rest of Boston Legal as it returns with its fifth season tonight at 10pm on ABC.
