Finally.
Although it seems like roughly forever since we last saw a new episode of Bones, it's only been a few weeks. There will -- alas! -- be many more weeks until Bones season 7 begins airing again. But now, at least, there is a date set for Bones to return to FOX. When? Keep reading to find out.
According to a report from
TVLine,
Bones season 7 will resume new episodes on Thursday, April 5 at 9pm on FOX.
Bones will take the place of its spinoff,
The Finder, which is expected to conclude its first season at some point in March.
We can expect at least seven more episodes from
Bones this spring. With the six episodes that aired this fall and winter, that brings the total for
Bones season 7 to 13 episodes. There are also likely to be four bonus episodes airing at some point later in 2012, according to
news given by FOX president Kevin Reilly at January's Television Critics Association winter press tour.
And for once, we can't just blame the network for this shortened season. The main reason for the lack of new
Bones episodes is instead mainly due to star Emily Deschanel's real-life pregnancy. The already-aired episodes were all filmed before the actress gave birth in September 2011, and new episodes had to wait until after Deschanel's maternity leave.
While we obviously have no clue of the specifics we can expect from
Bones season 7 when it returns, there have been some rumors. The child of Booth and Brennan will be born -- apparently in a high-tension, possibly spectacular way -- early in the spring run of episodes. Christopher Pellant, the super-creepy hacker/murderer introduced in the last
Bones episode, "The Crack in the Code," will return at some point (hopefully to be caught or killed).
