Ok, my friends, so I have to admit that I was very surprised by last week's episode, "The Proof in the Pudding." In regards to the whole pregnancy storyline, we were definitely thrown some curveballs weren't we? First, it was Michelle who we thought was pregnant according to the home pregnancy test Cam found in the bathroom at the lab, but then Angela confessed to the test being hers.
I did actually think that it was going to be Angela all along just because it made sense, and I was happy that the test was hers instead of Michelle's because although Cam can take a lot of things, I'm not sure how she would've dealt with having a pregnant, 16 year old daughter. I mean, she couldn't even tell Michelle she loved her in the Christmas episode, "The Goop on the Girl," so I think a pregnancy would have been too much too soon. Don't you think?
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
Also, I absolutely loved the fact that Hodgins told Angela that he loved her and would do anything she needed or wanted to do in order to help her support the baby. I definitely think there is still something there between those two, and I'll be interested to see how it plays out during the rest of the season.
Furthermore, although I do like Wendell and I enjoy the episodes that he's in, I agree with Hodgins in that he probably wouldn't make the best father for the baby, considering he's a struggling grad student and all. I mean, perhaps he could rise to the occasion, but who knows for sure. At least with Hodgins, the financial stability would be there.
However, it seems that all of these things are quite trivial because, in the end, the pregnancy test turned out to be a false positive. Cam retested it when she thought it was Michelle's, but as soon as she found out it was Angela's, she gave her the news. Thus, all in all, no one is pregnant on Bones.
For the most part, I think this is a good thing....at least for Angela. Like she said, when you have a baby with someone, you're bonded to that person for the rest of your life through another human being. Maybe it's just me, but I see Angela and Wendell's relationship as something fun and casual, not as a "forever" kind of thing, so I think it was ultimately for the best that Angela turned out not to be pregnant.
Additionally, in the words of Angela, herself, Wendell just wasn't the right guy to have a baby with, and I think for her it would not have been the right time. As for when the right time for her to have a baby would be, the truth is I'm not sure. Maybe next season, maybe before the show's end, and maybe we'll never get to see Angela have a baby. To me, it's just all up to Hart Hanson.
Now, there's one more thing I'd like to address. Maybe it's just me, but ever since this season premiered, I've wondered what happened to Brennan's aspirations to be a mother. It was such an integral part of the end of Season 4 and the Season 5 premiere, but ever since then, there's really been no mention of it whatsoever.
Well, rest assured my friends. The good news is that according to Michael Ausiello, Brennan's still got her maternal instincts, and executive producer Stephen Nathan says, "You can't un-ring a bell. That's something she will always come back to." Yet, he also says, "It won't be a major focus for the rest of this season, but it's something that we will revisit." So, I guess we won't be seeing a pregnant Dr. Brennan anytime soon, but at least we know that the Bones crew will revisit the subject.
