If you turn on your TV this Wednesday at 8pm to CBS hoping to find out who will be evicted from Big Brother 10, you will be sorely disappointed. CBS has decided to swap Wednesday's live eviction episodes with Greatest American Dog on Thursdays, installing Big Brother in its original summer slot. Beginning this week, July 31, Big Brother 10 will air live eviction episodes Thursdays at 8pm.

The move will hopefully improve Big Brother's ratings for the season. Though the live eviction episodes saw an increase from week 1 to week 2, the show is still only pulling about 6.2 million viewers, more than one million fewer than Greatest American Dog's average.

Ironically, Big Brother's lackluster ratings were most likely a result of being head-to-head with the first half of So You Think You Can Dance's Wednesday night performance shows. I call the move ironic because starting this week, So You Think You Can Dance is cutting performance shows to one hour from 9-10pm on Wednesdays, meaning Big Brother would have finally been out of its way.

Most interesting will be seeing whether the houseguests are informed of this change or if they're so stir-crazy that they don't realize when eviction day comes one day later. Not telling them might make it even more fun, as they would all go insane trying to remember exactly what day it is, making them think they'd lost their minds.

In addition, the change might also change the game. Big Brother fans know that one conversation can move the entire flow of the game and make people alter the planned strategies. One more day of deal-making and manipulation might just be enough to save or send home someone who wouldn't have been evicted otherwise. I call it the Big Brother Butterfly Effect.

The Tuesday and Sunday episodes will remain as scheduled. Greatest American Dog will premiere in its new time slot this Wednesday, July 30 at 8pm.
