Last week on
Beauty and the Geek, the teams went to Mexico where
Dave did some flips, got kissed and one a challenge. Sam continued to dominate his challenges, and
William and Jen fought. The challenge-winning teams voted to send
John and
Natalie home. Only four teams remain.
On tonight's
Beauty and the Geek, the teams have returned home to Los Angeles after their Mexican sojourn.
Shay is proud that she and
Joshua have improved probably more than any other team in the house.

Everyone is assembled in the library to hear
Mike Richards' announcements. Jen thinks she can improve and work hard, while William smirks and makes faces. The beauties' challenge this week involves the study of animals and insects. The geeks' challenge must learn how to mix drinks because they have a flair bartending challenge.
The geeks have a special guest teacher. It's Tim Plummer, a professional flair bartender who competes in the international circuit. What? I had no idea there even was such a thing! William is especially confident because of his juggling background.
Jasmine and Shay study out on the patio, and they get attacked by a big beetle-looking thing. The thing is huge! I would have totally freaked out too. William makes snide comments about Jen behind her back, but denies it when Nicole calls him out on it. What a liar! He was totally insulting his partner!
The beauties head into the Bronson Canyon Cave for their challenge. There are glass cages full of insects, spiders, snakes and scorpions. Oh my gosh, this is frightening. There are huge millipedes and roaches and slugs. The beauties have to pick them up and carry them to terrariums outside the cave labeled with Latin names. They have ten minutes to do it, and the beauty with the most critters in properly labeled terrariums wins.
I feel so, so, so sorry for them. I'm really not sure that I would be able to do this challenge. Plus, I don't think that this is something that only beauties have trouble doing. I'm sure a lot of smart people have a hard time picking up gigantic roaches and squirmy many-legged creatures as well. Sam doesn't have any problem handling his critters, but he isn't sure about their Latin names. Jasmine freaks out and can't do anything. With a little over two minutes left, she finally picks up a toad. Shay has a scorpion climbing up her shirt. With 30 seconds left, Jasmine goes for the tarantula, the creature she is most afraid of, but sadly doesn't quite make it.
Jasmine gets zero right. Shay and Jen both get one right. Sam gets five correct, winning once again. This means that Sam and Nicole are guaranteed a spot in the final three.
The beauties come home to tell everyone about their challenge. Dave asks Jasmine how she's doing after her challenge. He's really proud of her for picking up three of the critters and cheers her up by making brownies with her. These two are really awesome now. I really hope they win.
Jen tries to help William for the flair bartending challenge by suggesting outfits for him to wear. Shay gets Joshua ready for his challenge as well. She makes him put self-tanning lotion on his face and does up his hair. Jasmine dresses Dave up in a tux. William is very proud of himself for flipping a bottle and catching it on the back of his hand.
The challenge begins, and Tim Plummer will act as the judge. Joshua is first and makes pina colada. He gets the rum everywhere and spills a bottle of cream all in the effort to make about an inch of pina colada at the bottom of the glass. Nicole is up and chooses to make a cosmo. She twirls her glasses around her head. William makes a fuzzy navel, throwing things around and nearly hitting Sam in the face. Dave makes some sex on the beach and provides a running commentary throughout. According to Jasmine, Dave "did cool." This was a really fun challenge to watch, but in that way where you're totally embarrassed for the geeks.
It's time to announce the winner. Tim Plummer picks Dave. Mike asks William what was going through his head, and he whines that if he didn't drop his bottle a couple of times, he would have been the winner. Then he whines to the camera that Dave was picked on personality, even though he had better technique.
Joshua and Shay have a very nice moment before elimination, building each other's confidence up. I really love these two together as well. Joshua, whose face does look a lot better tanned, proposes an imaginary toast to how far they have come.
William and Jen have a rare moment of detente. She says that if she happened to find him being beat up by someone, she's try to stop them. A generous sentiment, really.
It's elimination time with Joshua and Shay versus William and Jen. The beauties go first.
Jen knows that John Scopes was convicted of teaching evolution, completely surprising William. Shay knows that a skink is a reptile. Jen knows that reptiles are horny, cold-blooded and covered in scales. Shay knows that invertebrates don't have backbones.
The teams are tied, and it's all up to the geeks.
William knows what a chaser is. Joshua guesses incorrectly that high-low is a drinking game. William knows that a standard pony shot is one ounce.
This means that William and Jen have won, and Joshua and Shay must go home.
This was one of the most entertaining episodes of
Beauty and the Geek ever. The challenges were really fun to watch, and it's really gratifying to see how far Shay and Joshua have come in their social experiment.
Who will be the next team to be eliminated?
