Biography

Alessandro Juliani as Lt. Felix Gaeta

Alessandro Juliani was born on April 3, 1978 in Canada and was raised in Horseshoe Bay. His father is producer, actor and writer John Juliani. He spent most of his youth singing with the British Columbia Boys’ Choir, and in his teens, tried his luck in acting. He received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal/ Opera Performance from McGill University in Montreal. While he was with McGill’s Faculty of Music, Juliani became popular for his baritone voice, impressive sight-reading skills and perfect intonation. Because of his singing prowess, Juliani found it easy to find work singing in choirs, including the one at Christ Church Cathedral.

He made his television debut on an episode of the adventure series, MacGyver. From there, he landed roles in more small screen productions like Strange World, Dark Angel, Taken, Jeremiah, Stargate SG-1 , Meltdown and Earthsea. Juliani has also done extensive voice work on many animated series, including Captain N: The Game Master, Captain N & The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, Captain N and the New Super Mario World, Ranma ½, X-Men Evolution, Beast Machines: Transformers, Kessen, Mucha Lucha!, Go-Bots and Alien Racers.

Currently, Juliani is most known for his portrayal of Tactical Officer Lieutenant Felix Gaeta on the re-imagined sci-fi series, Battlestar Galactica. He was cast in the role in 2003, and the following year, appeared in productions of Hamlet and Henry V. In an interview with Vancouver Courier, Juliani said that given his family’s involvement with the theater, it was easy for him to find his way to the stage. "If I had wanted to rebel, I would have gone into insurance or sold real estate… Made a lot of money, basically."

As for the big screen, Juliani’s film credits include Seven Days, The Score and Chaos Theory. In addition, he has performed with such theater companies as Bard on the Beach, Vancouver Playhouse and Vancouver Opera, and in international showcases such as the Aldeburgh Festival in England and the Orlando Shakespeare Festival.
