'Back to You' Star Evacuates
Back to You star, Kelsey Grammer, was among the many prominent celebrities forced out of their homes by raging California wildfires yesterday.

The spreading inferno had been blazing a trail of death and destruction across the California landscape since the weekend.  The mindless scorching monster had been devouring people and property from the horse country north of Los Angeles all the way to the Mexican border.

Even celebrities like the Back to You actor were not spared the urgency of the situation as they received mandatory evacuation notices yesterday.  Grammer's Malibu oceanfront residence was among those threatened by the uncontrollable fires.  Other famous faces on the popular and glamorous seaside community include Mel Gibson, Cher, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Nick Nolte, Jennifer Aniston, Mel Brooks and Ryan O'Neal.

Grammer's fellow evacuees were Academy Award-winning director James Cameron, veteran thespian Jane Seymour and Australian singer/actress, Olivia Newton-John.

"My daughter was nervous in the beginning," Back to You's lead actor told E! entertainment channel on Monday.  "I said, 'Oh, honey, it's nothing.  Just relax.  Come on, we're going to have some fun.'  So she shined the flashlight around and we got out. ... We're safe.  We got the dog, we got the kids."

Jane Seymour, best known as the fearless and ahead of her time Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, was trying to keep all her steps in proper sequence on Dancing with the Stars Monday, while her husband, James Keach, kept vigil on their home as flames continued to threaten.

"The fire is close to our home, and there was a mandatory evacuation. My husband is illegally there, fighting the fire," Seymour told People.

Hollywood producing mogul, David Geffen, allowed his newly-renovated Malibu Beach Inn to serve as a halfway house for firefighters and rescue workers free of charge, while displaced celebrities sought temporary refuge in even finer accommodations like the Beverly Hills Peninsula and Four Season hotel.
