On the last season of
Real Housewives of New York City, Ramona Singer fought with everyone and drank gallons of pinot grigio, Sonja Morgan went bankrupt and
danced in a swan costume, and the Countess LuAnn de Lesseps released another unsolicited single while refusing to drop the title "Countess" even though she divorced the Count and is dating a new man. Kelly Bensimon, Alex McCord, Cindy Barshop and Jill Zarin did things too, but not important enough things to stay on the show because they were all fired.
See What The Fired Housewives Had To Say About Their Exit So what can we expect for season 5, premiering Monday? Well first of all, there are three bright and shiny new faces:
Aviva Drescher,
Carole Radziwill, and
Heather Thomson have all joined the cast to give the show a face lift. No doubt some of the former housewives will be missed (well, let's be honest, the only one we'll really be missing is Jewish Queen Jill Zarin), but after the last couple seasons of mean-spirited cat fights, it was probably time to go in a new direction.
Highlights From The Season 4 Reunion Show According to the
BravoTV.com, this season will follow "the busy lives of a group of driven and ambitious Manhattan women as they juggle their demanding careers and motherhood and navigate the wonderful world of jam-packed social calendars, children and city life." While that description could apply to every other season of the show (and even the other
Housewives franchises, after replacing Manhattan with their own city), we can deduce a few things from this season preview:
First, it seems as though Ramona will continue to be unbearable. Second, as usual, there will be a trip to an exotic location (this one looks to have palm trees -- could they be re-visiting Scary Island?) AND a trip to London where "Turtle Time" will probably happen. And third, there will be plenty of curse-laden, alcohol-fueled confrontations involving the new ladies.

"This season gets ugly and ends up being Ramona and Sonja versus everyone else," an anonymous cast member told the
Huffington Post. "The Countess, who has tried to stay neutral in the past, was forced to choose between the new ladies and her old cast mates... and she picked the former."
Sonja also told the
Huffington Post that she suffered a meltdown on one of their trips while filming.
"I had a mini meltdown," she said. "Somebody had a huge meltdown and then I had a mini meltdown because I couldn't believe I wanted to get to know them and trusted them and then I was like, 'Whoa!'"
That Sonja really knows how to leave us with an intriguing teaser! Season 5 of
Real Housewives of New York City starts Monday, June 4 at 8pm on Bravo.
