There's a new superhero in town and he comes in the form of Barry Allen. The assistant police forensic investigator, played by Grant Gustin, was first introduced on Arrow
and was last seen being struck by lightning caused by the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator. This freak accident eventually earns him the power of super speed and leads to his transformation to become the fastest man alive on the highly anticipated Arrow
spin-off, The Flash
Simultaneous to the production of The Flash
pilot, The CW has released two photos to give fans a sneak peek at Grant Gustin in full superhero mode. The costume was designed by three-time Oscar winner Colleen Atwood, who is known for her work in Arrow, Alice in Wonderland
and Sleepy Hollow
, and features the signature lightning bolt on the chest. Though this suit mostly stays true to the traditional Flash costume based on the DC Comics, it's also noticeably a darker shade of red while the ear wings have evolved as well.
Meanwhile, another actor has joined the cast of The Flash
. According to Deadline.com
, Patrick Sabongui (Stargate: Atlantis, 300
and TRON: Legacy
) will be playing Central City Police Captain David Singh, which is a potentially recurring character.
So far, several actors have already been added to the CW pilot
, including Jesse M. Martin as Detective West, Michelle Harrison as Barry's mom Nora, Rick Cosnett as Detective Eddie Thawne, Daniele Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Candice Patton as Iris West, Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, and John Wesley Shipp, the original Flash/Barry Allen who will be playing a mysterious role.
