'Army Wives' to Honor Real Army Wives

Army Wives castTo kick off the July 4th week and festivities, the Lifetime hit drama series Army Wives will host a red carpet event plus an advanced screening of an upcoming episode to recognize and honor the inspiration behind the show, the true-to-life army wives.  The event, which will take place at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. on July 1, is scheduled to begin with a red carpet ceremony, immediately followed by the reception and screening.

The attendees include several Army Wives cast member, including Sally Pressman, Tanya Biank, author of the book that inspired the show, senior representatives from the military and their families, Lee Woodruff, wife of ABC anchor Bob Woodruff who was injured in Iraq, representatives from military aid organizations, and the guests of honor, real army wives and their families.

Staring at 6:30 pm, all the guests will walk the red carpet and join the Walter Reed military staff and wounded servicemen and women for an advanced screening of an Army Wives episode called The Hero Returns.  In this episode, Trevor feel conflicted as he returns home and is showered with praises. Meanwhile, Frank is apprehensive with Denise’s new-found independence, especially her fixation with her new motorcycle.

After the red carpet event and the screening, Biank will also do a book-signing at the event.  The cast members and the real army wives will also be available for interviews and photos.

Army Wives is about the complicated lives of a diverse group of women – and one man – with spouses or family members on active army post. With the Iraq war in perspective, the drama has become cable’s number one drama of the year for women.  The show had the largest series premiere in Lifetime's 23 year history. It stars Kim Delaney, Catherine Bell, Sally Pressman, Brigid Brannagh, and Wendy Davis.
