La Toya Jackson is one of the most controversial celebrities in the business. Born into the famous Jackson family in Gary, Indiana on May 29, 1956, the sister of pop star Michael Jackson maintained a semi-successful music career during the 80s and the 90s, under the management of her father Joseph. Known as the rebellious one among the Jackson siblings, La Toya replaced her father as manager with Jack Gordon, whom she later married. It was under his influence that the singer became controversial to the hilt, appearing in the infamous nude photo spread in Playboy magazine and releasing her autobiography La Toya: Growing Up in the Jackson Family. The book aggravated her already-strained relations with her family, for the book revealed the supposed abusive qualities of her father. In 1997, she ended her tumultuous marriage to Gordon and is now reportedly in good terms with her family. She recently completed a new album, Startin' Over, which is slated for a 2007 release.
The start of 2007 will see La Toya with five other celebrities in the CBS reality TV show Armed and Famous, where they will be trained to become police officers in the Midwestern town of Muncie, Indiana.
