Elyse Sewell Biography:

Born on June 10, 1982 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Elyse Sewell attended the University of New Mexico for three years, where she majored in both Biology and Spanish. Although her life-long dream is to work in the world of biochemistry, she took on different kinds of jobs like clinical researcher and assistant teacher. She is an atheist, but strongly admires model Karen Elson and Dr. Jonas Salk. She is a member of a band called The Shins, and she performs alongside her boyfriend, Marty Crandall.

Although it was clear that Elyse possessed both beauty and brains, the judges of America’s Next Top Model, Cycle 1 saw that she was not using both of her gifts to improve herself as a model. In addition, the judges also felt that her immense intellect was the cause of her slightly arrogant behavior, as she was often perceived to be cold and indifferent towards most of the other finalists. She was the eighth contestant to be eliminated from the show.

After her stint at America’s Next Top Model, Cycle 1, Elyse Sewell went on to publish her own book in Hong Kong, entitled Beauty and The Biz: The International Adventures of America's Third-to-Next Top Model, and to launch an online blog which provides tips and humorous anecdotes to other aspiring models.
