Often times, viewers have no idea what goes on behind the scenes of a television show. Actors can have serious problems getting along, like that of
Sarah Jessica Parker and
Kim Cattrall on
Sex and The City. When two people can’t work together, the entire show is left in jeopardy. Such is the case on
America’s Next Top Model. Reports are flying that
Tyra Banks and (former) friend
Jay Manuel are no longer speaking. In fact, things have gotten so bad that Tyra wants cycle 12 to be her last season with the show.
“Tyra Banks is not getting along with Jay Manuel,” an insider tells OK magazine. “She thinks he has become a diva and is ungrateful to her for making him a star. The way she sees it, it’s thanks to her that he now has a makeup line, a show on Style Network and hosts Canada’s version of Top Model.” In previous seasons, the two were shown heavily interacting with each other but it has been severely limited in recent times. Now, the fact that she feels that he owes her or should not try to branch out his own has caused a rift in their relationship.
Things have gotten so bad on the set that Tyra has almost no involvement with the show anymore. “Tyra barely interacts with the contestants and only wants to show up on judging day," the source adds. In
her interview with BuddyTV, judge
Paulina Porizkova said she hardly talked to Tyra at all. “We didn't really know each other before, and I don't really know her now,” she said. “She is the busiest person I've ever seen in my entire life, so she doesn't have time. She has like, 150 billion different things to do at any given time, so she doesn't really have much time to socialize or anything.”
After 10 cycles, it seems that it’s time for Tyra to move on. "She wants another supermodel to replace her for cycle 13 so she can focus on her other projects," the source says. "She has a lot on her plate. Something’s got to give." If this is true and Tyra really is looking to leave
America's Next Top Model, then the CW will have to move fast to find someone to fill those diva shoes!
