As a dance crew, Fanny Pak got its name because all of its four-girl and three-guy members were born in the 80s, an era which they described as "an unapologetic, take-chances, and take-risks era," something that they also embody as a performing group. The Los Angeles, California-based group sports colorful costumes reminiscent of the fashion explosion that is the 80s.
Fanny Pak is one of the dance crews competing in Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew, featuring street dance crews in the country. Hosted by Mario Lopez, America's Best Dance Crew is produced by American Idol judge and record producer Randy Jackson. The show boasts of a panel of topnotch judges, including hip-hop choreographer and street dance authority Shane Sparks, superstar MC Lil Mama, and singer, song-writer, and record producer, JC Chasez of the disbanded boy group NSYNC.
Before they began their live casting performance, a Fanny Pak member said she was dedicating the performances it to her dead grandmother, the first person she called when they made it. The routine was vintage 90s, with very crisp movements to trance and electro-music. The retro-team, according to the judges came to America's Best Dance Crew to change the game as they are totally different. Moreover, they didn't follow the trend and are very detail-oriented.
