Jennifer Hudson has another acting gig lined up, this time on Lifetime. Kris Allen is preparing to release a Christmas EP. And Mariah Carey is celebrating President Obama's win with a new song. Speaking of which, Idols across the board have been tweeting about the election and the importance of voting.

Jennifer Hudson to Star in Lifetime's Five 2

As if Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson isn't busy enough, she's just signed on to star in a Lifetime network original feature with Sarah Hyland, Melissa Leo and Octavia Spencer. Five 2 is a sequel to Five, which aired in October 2011 and was a collection of five short films about breast cancer, all starring high profile actresses. The second anthology will instead focus on mental illness, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

There will also be some famous actors working behind the scenes as well. Bonnie Hunt and Laura Dern are each set to direct one of the five short films. And the list of executive producers include Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Chioy, Kristin Hahn, Marta Kauffman and Francesca Silvestri (all were EPs on the original as well).

Nothing else is known at the moment, so we'll have to wait some more to find out about Jennifer's character and what storyline we can expect her to be involved in. BuddyTV will provide an update when that becomes available. But while we're waiting for her to appear on Lifetime, you can catch Jennifer Hudson on Smash, which premieres February 5 at 9pm on NBC. (And read on to find out which talk show she'll be a guest on next week.)

Cover Revealed for Kris Allen's Christmas EP

Kris Allen may have parted ways with his major record label, but that doesn't mean he's done with music. The season 8 winner is currently prepping a Christmas EP, Waiting for Christmas, set to drop in time for the holidays. And he tweeted this morning the cover art: "This will be coming soon. Be on the lookout."

Mariah Carey's Obama Tribute Song

After an election that seemed to last forever, America finally went to the polls to cast their ballots for president. President Barack Obama won reelection, and new American Idol judge Mariah Carey is celebrating in a special way. She posted a song online called "Bring It On Home" that definitely fits the occasion. This isn't the first time people are hearing this song; she performed it earlier this year at a campaign rally, but it's the first time the recording has been released.

After the networks called the election in Obama's favor, Mariah tweeted, "Congratulations to our beloved President Barack Obama, our spectacular First Lady Michelle Obama & the adorable Malia & Sasha. We love you! ... Incredible Speech!!!!!! Watching in a room full of diverse people-all truly moved. Thank you America for President Obama-4more yrs."

Regardless of whether you supported the same candidate she did or not, what do you think of "Bring It On Home"? Should it go on her next album?
