FOX Sets Winter Premieres for 'Idol,' 'The Following' and 'Touch'
Wednesday, October 24, 2012
FOX is already looking ahead to the winter, scheduling premiere dates for three of its midseason shows: American Idol, Touch and The Following.
American Idol kicks off Wednesday, January 16 with a two-hour episode at 8pm. That's followed by a one-hour episode Thursday, January 17. Season 12 of American Idol marks some big changes as new judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban join Randy Jackson.
The Kiefer Sutherland drama Touch will begin its second season Friday, February 1 at 9pm, taking over Fringe's time slot.
Finally, the new serial killer drama The Following premieres Monday, January 21 at 9pm, taking over for The Mob Doctor. The Following is from creator Kevin Williamson (Dawson's Creek, the Scream movies, The Vampire Diaries) and stars Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy. The show is about a retired FBI agent (Bacon) brought back to track a serial killer he took down (Purefoy) who is now controlling a web of serial killers.
The network has yet to schedule its other new midseason show, the comedy The Goodwin Games. It's safe to assume all other shows (Bones, Glee and the Tuesday comedies) will stay in the same time slots.
