I think I got distracted by all these fall premieres that I pushed this little show known as
American Idol on the corner. Well, before I kink out my schedule and get things back to order, a couple of items, one involving job security, and the other involving actual security. You know, that serious sort.
Number one: And the person arrested by the police is... Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr. was nabbed by police in Orange County
after assaulting a security guard who tried to prevent him from entering Ryan Seacrest's car. Authorities say the suspect attempted to enter the host's vehicle after a charity appearance in the area.
Security guards tried to stop him, but Uzomah fought back, resulting in a scuffle. He is accused of choking one of the guards, who was almost unconscious. Ryan, thankfully, got away on time.
Currently Uzomah is in jail on suspicion of assault. An arraignment is expected later today. Maybe the judge would say, "go get some singing talent, then attend next season's auditions, and hope you make it that far."
Number two: I have three words for you. "Can you air Dropped?" Kara DioGuardi's no longer an Idol newcomer, and just to confirm that, she's taking the next step--by developing her new reality show. "It's called
Dropped,"
she told New York Magazine. "I'm starting to shop it now. It takes the best acts that have been dropped and gives them a second chance."
"You look at Katy Perry, the Jonas Brothers, Alicia Keys, and Lady Gaga, they all have one thing in common: they've all been dropped from their labels," she added. "I was dropped. Think about how many times in your life you haven't achieved one goal, but you've achieved another one."
The show would be about, of course, music, and then some. As for who'll host it? Maybe her, she says. Nothing's still concrete. Why do I have a feeling that it won't take off because it'd feel a bit like
Idol? But a part of me hopes it does.
